Biochar, compost and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi: a tripartite approach to combat Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in soybean

چکیده
Abstract Sclerotinia stem rot, caused by sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary, is a major disease in soybean many parts of the world. Sustainable control measures to combat this pathogen can be better achieved combining different available tools. One element fungal diseases could changing biological activities adding organic matter inputs, such as biochar and compost, soil. Other players are arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF); bioprotective effects have already been documented for them. In present study, we assessed effect compost alone at application rate 20% total substrate (v/v) and/or green waste 3% combination with or without fungi, against their on plant growth characteristics soybean. Substrates including resulted lower severity both, plants inoculated non-inoculated AMF. The AMF root colonization was highest grown treatment ; lowest found substrates containing compost. Soil substrates, especially affected shoot dry production plants; superior treatments Root morphological traits were more strongly influenced than substrate. Our findings suggest that has positive terms suppression, which pronounced

Effect of biochar on nitrogen retention in soil under corn plant inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi
Maintaining the levels of nitrogen in agricultural fields to ensure crop yield performance is challenging due to the complex dynamics of nitrogen transformation in soil. Nitrogen is mainly taken up by plant roots in the form of nitrate, but it is considered as an environmental pollutant that threatens human and animal health. Therefore, it is necessary to use adsorbent compounds to retain nitra...
متن کاملEnhanced N-Transfer from a Soybean to Maize by Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (VAM) Fungi.
Using a split-root technique, roots of soybean plants were divided between two pots. In one of the two pots, two maize plants were grown and half of those pots were inoculated with the vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungus, Glomus fasciculatus. Fifty-two days after planting, (15)N-labeled ammonium sulfate was applied to the pots which contained only soybean roots. Forty-eight hours afte...
متن کاملBiodiversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in agroecosystems
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi [AMF] are soil fungi which form a mutualistic symbiosis with the roots of plants. A variety of benefits to the host have been ascribed to mycorrhizae, most often enhanced uptake of immobile nutrients from the soil, notably P. An understanding of the impacts of agronomic practices upon communities of these fungi would help to ensure an opportunity for the utilization...
متن کاملMeiotic genes in the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi
The arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are important symbionts of land plants, which are known for their tremendous positive effects on terrestrial ecosystems, their peculiar cellular features, and their very old evolutionary history. To date, no sexual stage or apparatus have ever been observed in these organisms; a remarkable absence for a eukaryotic lineage. For this reason, AMF have long be...
متن کاملArbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Alien Plant Species
The invasion success of alien plant species depends, amongst other things, on their functional traits [4] and the susceptibility of ecosystems. There is now increasing interest in including biotic interactions particularly mutualistic associations [5], into frameworks assessing alien plant invasions, as they help bridge the invisibility and invasiveness features. The great majority of terrestri...
